He was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize for Economics for his contributions to macroeconomics, notably labor, economic growth, economic policy and structural change. In the last decade, he has worked on the employment implications of automation and artificial intelligence and on the emergence of China as a global economic power. He is a Professor-at-Large at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a member of several learner societies. His book \u201cEquilibrium Unemployment Theory\u201d is an influential reference in the economics of unemployment that has been translated into many languages. As co-founder and Co-Chair of the Institute for the Future of Work in London, he is actively involved in securing the conditions for the creation of good work and well-being in the age of automation.
